Hayden has started outgrowing his newborn clothes.  A couple of days ago I had to put away about five of his onesies which were just too little for him anymore.  Yesterday I got out his size 3 month outfits to see how big they were on him.  Well, the result is this…

Not only do his clothes fit, some of them like this onesie are a little snug!  There are still some newborn clothes in rotation — he hasn’t outgrown them all and I’m hanging onto the newborn stage as long as I can! 🙂  Plus I need as many clothes on hand as possible — about 5 minutes after that photo was taken he spit up all over the outfit and had to be changed into another IU onesie, which he leaked on after about 20 minutes.

Daddy feeds me August 27, 2007

Friday I turned 3 weeks old, and Mommy and Daddy decided it was time for me to try a bottle.  Doctors, lactation consultants, and books had told them they had to wait until about this time so I don’t get nipple confusion.  So Mommy pumped some milk and Daddy gave it to me in a bottle later.  It was the greatest!  I love it when my daddy feeds me.  I didn’t have any problems with the bottle or when I went back to Mommy for food.  I just like my food I guess!  They also started letting me have a pacifier (Daddy calls it a ‘dummy’ – he has some funny words for things!  Nappies for diapers, cot for crib, pram for stroller – where does he come up with this stuff! 😉 ) sometimes, as like all babies I find comfort in sucking.  (Not unlike the Bears — oh yeah, high five!)

Last week my parents’ friends Sunil and David came to visit me.  I got in cahoots with Lucy and we did the ol’ one-two on David.  He was cradling me, and I got hungry and started rooting around.  I was level with where I figured his breast must be so I opened wide and started nestling in.  Everyone thought it was hilarious, but I was just trying to be resourceful.  Then as I was distracting everyone with my own version of ‘nipple confusion,’ Lucy came up to him and stuck her nose up the side of his shorts.  She really got right on  up there.  Between fits of laughter my mommy told her to go for his wallet.  We make quite the little comedy duo, my dog and me. 🙂

She drives!

I’m pleased to say that I have finally taken up driving again!  Last Thursday I finally got the nerve to stomp my foot hard on the ground as the nurse suggested would indicate I could handle a hard stop.  So Hayden and I went to Target to celebrate.  He was pretty excited about the adventure, even though he slept most of the time until he decided he wanted to fuss enough for me to get him out of his car seat.  Not easy steering a cart and holding a newborn, I must admit!  It was nice to get out during the day, though.  Then Friday we went to Babies R Us, and he was good as gold the whole time we were in there.  Then he cried and cried on the way home.  I have found that he is not yet to the point where car rides put him to sleep, as so far he has cried his way through them more then he has slept through them.  But I guess that’s usually on the way home, and we’re usually on our way home because he’s hungry.  Case in point, today we went to Kinko’s.  I took too long, he got hungry, he started crying, I tried to console him enough to stop crying so I could finish up, he said, “No way, we’re out of here Mommy,” I finally surrendered and we left, and he cried until we got home and he was eating.  I still can’t complain though, because most of his crying is due to hunger which means we can stop it.  I know that might not last, but I am grateful for it while it does!

I’m Tired August 25, 2007

It’s been a while since I’ve been on my own site, Mummy and Daddy hog the laptops.  I was going to write a quick account of my week.  I pooped, and then ate, and then peed and pooped and slept for a few hours.  Then I shouted at my mummy that I wanted more food, ate, pooped and peed and then I ate some more, I was tried after all that so I took a nap.  It was an exhausting week!!   Love Hayden.  x.

Hayden is a giant.  I look at him in his pack and play when he’s just laying there and I swear he has grown 3 or 4 inches already.  It might be that when he was born he didn’t stretch his legs out much or something, but he is just so long!! I’m not sure where he gets it from, the tallest on either side of our family’s is probably my dad at 6 foot and a little bit.  It’s a good job we don’t have a milkman otherwise I would be worried 🙂

I haven’t seen as much of Hayden as I would have liked this week.  My new job is really starting to kick in, I really like it but I have a  lot of work to do, and longer hours than my last one.  A couple of days this week I swear he didn’t even open his eyes when I was home!  But then again I love it when he’s sleeping!  I like to lay in front of the TV with him on my belly and he cuddles me!! That’s the best!! 😀

John finally got his August 22, 2007

As previous posts have mentioned, Hayden has had a few leaking spurts on various people, myself included.  John had somehow escaped being leaked on, even though it has happened to me I think three times now… but Sunday night Hayden finally got him.  It was hilarious, as I had just handed him to John and gone into the kitchen when I hear, ‘Oh, there’s a warm feeling!  Oh no!’  I was laughing so hard that I thought my stitches were in trouble.  He had a big wet spot on his shorts, and it turns out he had to change his entire outfit as the positioning had gotten every last item of his outfit wet (even his belt!).  John himself found it quite funny, but not as funny as Hayden and me. 🙂  What a little comedian!

Hayden is laying next to me as I type this making the sweetest little noises as he sleeps.  He is kind of sighing with every exhale.  I think it could be the most precious sound ever.

Animals! August 20, 2007

I thought it would be worth taking a moment aside to talk about the animals and how they have been interacting with Hayden.  Lucy has surprised us the most.  She has been so good around him.  She licks his feet lots and likes to sniff his butt but he doesn’t seem to mind one bit!!  We took some steps to help the transition (ignored her for a couple of days, brought home one of his blankets from the hospital, and gave her lots and lots of attention when we brought Hayden home) but we weren’t expecting it to go so smoothly!  Good girl Lucy!!

The cats really couldn’t care less!!  I’m not sure they’ve really noticed he’s here!  Jude has the odd sniff, doesn’t think he would taste good and leaves him alone!!!
